What about Adam ?

Postby beloved57 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:42 pm

Have you ever wondered that if Adam would not have sinned, and lived a perfect sin free life, if He would have inherited eternal life ?

If Adam [Mankind] had remained unfallen, without transgression, then He nor men in him could have entered that Kingdom of Eternal Glory to which all believers in Christ were destined before the foundation Matthew 25:

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

2 Timothy 4:18

And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

At best, the life we had in Adam was earthly 1 Corinthians 15:

46Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

So if Adam would have continued perfect in the flesh and blood he was created in, He could not inherit the kingdom of God, prepared for the sheep from the foundation, remember, at his best, Adam was still flesh and blood..

hebrews 2 :

14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood [In Adam], he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

And scripture says this 1 Corinthians 15:

50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

So Man at His best unfallen state in flesh and blood, cannot inherit the kingdom of God..

As Jesus said, except a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God, even Adam, in His unfallen state needed to be born again if He was to inherit the Kingdom of Glory..

Re: What about Adam ?

Hello beloved57-Greetings from Austria,

Well like you i have often pondered on this Question-What if Adam had not bitten in that ?=)(/%&$§"!*#*#*#*# :D Apple(Fruit?)-A decision he made that changed not only the course of mankind but of every created being and thing(Animals;Trees;Fisches-you name it)!

Lets see now what scripture has to say about this issues.

Now Adam was a created beeing and Eve was created by God out of Adam-both in the image of God(not like God but in His Image)-before that,God created all other things and He called it(declared it) as good.
Until that terrible Day Adam and Eve where Sinless and living in the Garden of Eden(Paradise)and God was with them walking in the Garden. Now Scripture does not say that God was there all the time before the fall of men but one can assume that, because God wanted to have Fellowship with His Creation and God also is not only omniscient but also omnipresent. Also God did not forbid them anything except to eat of that one particular Tree.

8Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, "Where are you?" 10 He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid."

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." (GEN.2:16-17)

Now if you read further in GEN.2:21-25 you will see that the first Commandment God ever gave was given to Adam alone because Eve was not yet created!
Adam was solely responsible for his Actions.

Then one Day it happened.

6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

BOOOOOOOM-And Sin has entered Men and creation..

From this moment on men was not Sinless any longer.
Did they have Eternal life before that? Most likely-God said if you........you will surely die!

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;29 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,30 for when you eat of it you will surely die.

From then on the whole creation was corrupted by Sin and fallen under it`s curse.

Paradise lost!!!

19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.(Rom.8:19-
23)

Did God know this was going to happen?I say He sure did because He prepared a way out from the creation of the World and all things are written in His Book before Creation.

8All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.(Rev.13:8)

Now the Kingdom of God that all Believers will inhabit one Day is not some mystical Place somewhere out there but it is the new Heavens and the new Earth which Jesus Christ will establish-and the new Heavenly Jerusalem where Christ Himself will reign with His People in His 1000 Year reign,

1And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. 2He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.(Rev.20:1-3)

7When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God's people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.(Rev.20:7-10)

The Dead Are Judged

The old Paradise lost is restored;in Fact brand new and everything will be again as it should have been from the beginning.

1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
5He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."(Rev.21:1-5)

This is the Kingdom of God where we will live forever with Him-our Lord and God our Saviour Jesus Christ-God amongst His People-AWESOME!
Those that have fallen asleep before that are now in Paradise with all the other Saints that have fallen asleep(Died) and are awaiting this Day and are already now in His presence.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS GODS HOLY PRESENCE!!!

13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever.18 Therefore encourage each other with these words.(1.Thess.13-18)

Looking forward to it???-I sure do!

Love in Christ

Re: What about Adam ?

Postby UncleAbee » Tue Jul 27, 2010 7:33 am

I believe that when God made Adam, he (Adam) already had eternal life. The sin that Adam committed brought sin and death into the world. Romans 5:12 says - "Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--" Romans 5:17 says - "For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ." Their was no sin and no death in the world. Adam would have lived eternally in the garden provided by God. He had eternal life.

If Adam would have remained flesh and blood, He would not have entered the kingdom of God.

Hello beloved57,Greetings,

It seems that there are different opinions on this topic, but since this is a very important issue from which we can learn it`s worth sharing on it.

But before I go any further on this discussion I would like to ask about your motivation on the matter with Adam?

I ask this because I know that you have been posting this question in other forums for some years and you keep insisting on the same verse-1.Cor.15:50.

Now,as I stated already above that this question is important to be followed up so we can learn.

If you just want to be right on this issue and don`t give Space to other opinions, discuss them and find out more about their reasoning, then this discussion for me has ended here.

with Brotherly love,peter

This is very fascinating to me.

Are you saying that Jesus would still have to die on the cross even if Adam didn't eat the fruit?

Hi,
Man was created in God's image, to share in His eternal glory. v The purpose is to honor and Worship God. The World was created through God's Word, Jesus Christ.

God being eternal and out of time, gave Adam one warning, do not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

That was His test, and God knew he would mess up.

God knew exactly where Adam and Eve were in the Garden, but he waited for Adam to come and confess his disobedience.

However, Adam blames Eve, Eve blames the Serpent.

Jewish literary commentary believes Adam and later
Eve repented his sin and was forgiven, however he still had to wait & look forward to the Messiah to be released, just from Sheol.
(Need to look up which commentary).

God created and saw that it was good. So its mutual, We need God, and God wants us to choose Him and need Him.

God Bless,
John

Re: What about Adam ?

Thought I’d throw in my two-cents. What if Adam had never sinned? Of course this is entirely speculative and opinion. And I doubt anyone, including myself, can add anything new to this discussion. However, it is interesting to consider.

For one, does it mean he would have never physically died? Of course he would not have died Spiritually. I am not convinced, though, that he could not have died physically. Death certainly existed apart from sin. Living microorganisms died (had to for man to survive, as anyone who knows basic biology is aware). Without some physical death, man himself would not be able to live. Plants died, bugs and microorganisms that were eaten or stepped on certainly died. Certain animals need meat to survive. But what about man? We read, “And the LORD God Commanded the man, saying, ‘You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil you shall not eat, Because in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’” (Genesis 2:16-17) Some have taken this as referring to physical death. However, Adam and Eve did not physically die the “day” this occurred. However, they certainly died Spiritually (God didn’t lie or make a mistake). Some have argued that this Spiritual death made possible and certain their physical death. Perhaps, however as far as I can tell that’s simply their opinion. I see nothing to support it. But then we read, “And to Adam He [God] said, ‘Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the Tree of which I Commanded you, :You shall not eat of it,” cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.’” (Genesis 3:17-19) Now some take this as proof that sin brought about physical death for mankind. However, all I see is that sin brought about misery in this life (along with Spiritual death). I see nothing here saying that physical death is due to sin. They had already Spiritually died (just as God said they would). But not physically. The fact that they would later physically die only tells us that, that they would later physically die. We’re not told if it’s due to sin or if it’s natural. Certainly our bodies have become corrupted due to sin. We see earliest man lived hundreds of years (or so it seems). Perhaps if Adam had never sinned, we all would live hundreds of years as well. I don’t know. But it certainly seems to me that sooner or later all would die physically. Or, something else had to happen.

How about procreation? Would man have continued to procreate and populate the earth for eternity? Before they ever sinned God Blessed them with this Commandment: “ … ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’” (Genesis 1:28) So it certainly seems that eternal procreation was a possibility. But so would over population if there were no physical death of man. So either physical death would be required, or else this Command eventually rescinded, or else something else would have had to occur.

But Adam did sin. Was it possible for him never to do so? Perhaps theoretically possible, but how about probable? Was it inevitable that he would eventually sin, so the whole question of physical death and eternal procreation is merely a moot point? I think so. But before I get to this, I would like to add that if Adam and Eve had never sinned, I think they would have eventually attained a Better Life. He would have passed from this life that he was created into to one much Greater, as is the Life of those Saved is much greater. I do not at all believe that Adam and Eve had Eternal Life before their Fall (thus why I also believe they could have eventually died physically). There’s no indication whatsoever that they yet had Eternal Life.

Now, this being so, if it is so, leads me to believe that even though it was possible for sinless man to die physically, I do not think they ever would have. At some point they would have instead been translated from this life to that better Heavenly, Eternal Life. This then would solve the over population problem as well, and God’s Blessing (Commandment) would remain upon mankind. And though it would be “possible” for man to die physically, none actually ever would. Instead, they would have passed from this world into Heaven without physical death. Though death exists, mankind itself would never have personally directly experienced it. Once again I must note, this is all purely speculative. But it seems to me rational and consistent with God’s Word.

I do hold, because Scripture clearly teaches it, that when man was first Created, he was made “very good.” “And God saw everything that He had Made, and behold, it was Very Good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.” (Genesis 1:31) “Very good,” but not necessarily perfect. Very good for His intentions, His Purpose, not necessarily for Eternal Life. It appears that the state of man was not perfected in the person of Adam. That man found within and that is Christ, instead, was perfect. Man still had to be renewed to that Life. Adam’s life was merely earthly (1 Corinthians 15:47). Now, I’m not saying that Adam would have earned, or merited, or even deserved Eternal Life. Even in a sinless state, doing all that one ought, doesn’t bring that about. Eternal Life would still be by God’s Grace. However, Jesus wouldn’t have had to Die for Him to make it possible or a reality. However, being the very good man that he was Created by God to be, and never ceasing from that, merely means he was dong and being what he was created to do and to be. It doesn’t mean he in any way deserved anything greater than that (which Eternal Life certainly is). Only God’s Grace could permit that. God owes us absolutely nothing. Being what we ought to be hardly changes that. So Eternal Life would be received exactly as it is by sinners today – by God’s Grace alone.

But wasn’t there a Covenant? There is in Genesis 2 a condition set forth, a penalty for not meeting that condition, and a promise (Genesis 2:16-17). All seemingly denoting a Covenant. Even if there was, there’s no mention in any of this of Eternal Life. Instead, it meant life going on as it ought; and if this so-called Covenant was broken then that would cease to exist. Not that if one continues to keep this they would eventually gain Eternal Life. Instead, it appears that the Covenant that did exist was one of fellowship between God and Adam. If the Covenant was broken, then that fellowship also would be broken.

So now back to Adam’s Fall. I hold that it was inevitable. As said, man was created “very good.” But he also had the ability, and I think, the tendency to sin. Though he did not yet have a sin nature, in the state in which he was existing, eventually it would occur (even Lucifer, who had no one to tempt him as Adam and Eve had to tempt them, though having no sin nature eventually Fell). As noted, Adam’s life was earthly, not Heavenly. There is a big difference between the pre-Fall life of Adam and the ultimate Glorification of God’s Elect. I’m not saying Adam had to Fall. But in his state, there was nothing to keep him from Falling (sinning). And he was susceptible to it. This is very different for one who is Glorified. Adam was able to sin. One who is Glorified is not able to sin. There’s that difference between the life which is merely earthy, and the one that is Heavenly. The first is “perishable,” the second is “imperishable.” The first is “mortal,” the second “immortal.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-57) Before the Fall man was free to choose. After the Fall man is free to choose. Those in this world who are Saved (Regenerated) are free to choose. And those who are Glorified are free to choose. So what’s the difference? In all cases one is not forced to will the way they do. But our will is determined by our moral inclinations. Those who are Glorified will still freely choose, but they will always choose to good because their heart, their mind, their nature will always be inclined to Glorify God. Adam had the ability not to sin, but also the ability to sin. Those Glorified will have the ability not to sin, but not the ability to sin. It will be contrary to who they are; contrary to their Glorified nature. Man then is not merely very good, but perfect. He is not merely restored to the state Adam was in before the Fall, but to a much higher state. In this God will be Glorified.

“And I saw no temple in the City, because its Temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the City has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, because the Glory of God gives it Light, and its Lamp is the Lamb. By its Light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, and its gates will never be shut by day – and there will be no night there. They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. But nothing unclean will Ever enter it, Nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are Written in the Lamb's Book Of Life.” (Revelation 21:22-27) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has Blessed us in Christ with Every Spiritual Blessing in the Heavenly places, even as He Chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, That we should be Holy and Blameless before him. In love He Predestined us for Adoption as Sons through Jesus Christ, According To the Purpose of His Will, To the Praise of His Glorious Grace, with which He has Blessed us in the Beloved.” (Ephesians 1:3-6) “He has now Reconciled in His Body of flesh By His Death, In Order To Present you Holy and Blameless and Above reproach before Him” (Colossians 1:22). “Now to Him Who is Able to Keep you from stumbling and to Present you Blameless Before the Presence of His Glory with Great Joy, to the Only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be Glory, Majesty, Dominion, and Authority, Before all time and Now and Forever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25) “And those whom He Predestined He also Called, and those whom He Called He also Justified, and those whom He Justified He also Glorified.” (Romans 8:30) “And Because Of Him you are in Christ Jesus, Who became to us Wisdom from God, Righteousness and Sanctification and Redemption, So That, as it is Written, ‘Let the one who boasts, Boast In The Lord.’” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31)

Well, that’s how I see it anyway.
